DVD players are not a matter of necessity, they are much more than that. Why? To get the answer, flick through our cable channels in a time slot between 8 pm-10 pm any day. A lot, I admit, can be learnt from soap operas and reality TV shows. Soap operas teach us that as long as you have enough quantity of housewives that is willing to watch soap operas, you will have a good enough market of housewives watching soap operas. Reality TV shows tell us that the channels airing reality TV shows ought to exercise greater caution, that there is a non-zero chance that some one might actually believe that everything in reality shows is real and unscripted, something which, we know, has tremendously serious consequences for all of us. For one, consequences such as seeing a bunch of countless talentless cretins lining up for the Indian Idol audition and prancing around like simians, all in the faint hope of becoming the 'next face of India' (Is that real and unscripted?). These learnings however do not impress most of us, most of the time, and hence we need to find an alternative medium of entertainment. Like movies or foreign TV shows, which you can watch at your own convenience. And nothing like a DVD player to watch those, isn't it?
The DVD players that are about to be profiled are buzzing with features. If you have been planning to buy a player that'll relieve you of your boredom on weekends, this list is surely worth having a look at.
